SPRINGER developed the Segmented flex blade plough in response to challenges posed by the extreme weather conditions at the foot of the Grossglockner mountain. Uneven conditions on the road surface pose significant challenges to road clearing services. Conventional snowploughs struggle to adapt to these height differences, leading to inadequate clearing results. The SPRINGER patented segmented flex blade plough, on the other hand, offers an innovative solution that delivers convincing results.

The follow-up segmented blade plough (“piano”) forms a second blade made of individual pre-tensioned flexible elements behind the front rigid blade for rough clearing, resulting in a unique clearing pattern in just one pass. This unique clearing method allows for perfect adaptation to uneven road surfaces to clear up considerably more snow with variations in the level of the road surface of up to 20 cm. This minimises the subsequent spreading of de-icing agents, leading to substantial savings of up to 50%. Thus, the segmented flex blade plough not only helps increase road safety but also helps protect the environment and public budgets.

Advantages include high savings on de-icing agents, effective removal of snow residues from uneven surfaces of up to 200 mm, and the ability to allow de-icing agents to work directly on the road.
